Amanda Laugesen is a Canberra-based historian and writer, who currently works at the Australian National Dictionary Centre at the Australian National University. She is the author of several books and many articles in Australian and US history. A full list of publications can be found here.
Amanda’s research interests include: the history of print culture and reading; the social and cultural history of war; the history of entertainment, entertainers and film; literary biography; and the history of Australian English. She has recently completed a book on Australian soldiers’ intellectual and imaginative lives in wartime which focuses on their experiences of education and entertainment. Amanda is currently working on a biography of Australian writer Henrietta Drake-Brockman, a study of an American Cold War publishing program and several projects on the history of Australian English.
